We convert the customer's existing analog TV module to digital.
We ask interested customers to locate and remove the TV module from the car and ship it to Autotronic.
Once the upgraded TV module is returned to the customer and reinstalled, a local station search is all that is necessary to start viewing digital programmes.
Our address for shipping/delivering the TV module is as follows:-
Autotronic LCFS Pty Ltd
107 Centre Road
Brighton East VIC 3187
Turnaround time is usually 2-3 business days.
This upgrade does not affect TV-in-motion settings.
The TV module's location varies according to vehicle, so we have included below some pictures to guide you.
Important note for iBus cars: the TV module builds up the picture information and sends this to the on board monitor for display, therefore once the video module is removed there is no longer any picture.
Important note for iDrive cars: the TV module sends sound and data over optic fibre links. A disconnected video module will impair the sound system.
Remove the boot trim along the left hand side to facilitate removal of the TV module (marked as item A197 in the picture). Disconnect the two small antenna connections. Disconnect the blue and white (if present) lever lock connectors. There is usually only one screw fixing this module in place.
The on board monitor will go blank when the TV module has been removed.
E46: Remove the boot trim along the left hand side to facilitate removal of the TV module (marked as item A197 in the picture). Disconnect the two small antenna connections. Disconnect the blue and white (if present) lever lock connectors. There is usually only one screw fixing this module in place.
E53: Start by removing the spare wheel, relocate the pump for the self levelling suspension (where fitted) and gain access to the battery compartment. The TV module and radio are fitted to large black plastic carrier. Disconnect the harnesses going to these modules then remove the plastic carrier from the car. The TV module (marked as item A197 in the picture) is "wedged" into the carrier and comes out one way by opening the large clips and pushing the unit out.
The on board monitor will go blank when the TV module has been removed.
Two screws fix the TV module (marked as item A197 in the picture) to a metal frame and are located on the opposite end to where connectors attach. Using small tools it's possible to remove the screws without dismantling anything else. Disconnect the two small antenna connections. Disconnect the blue and white (if present) connectors.
The navigation and entertainment system will be impaired when the TV module has been removed.
